Iridesa is a community arts center located on Vancouver Island and is my fourth-year major project!

Iridesa is a community center for the arts, aiming to connect people and create further interaction and appreciation for the arts and its impact on human health, wellness and livelihoods. Its central location in downtown Nanaimo helps raise the area's profile by attracting tourist traffic and increasing exposure to the arts. When starting the design of this project, these ideals of creating a sense of community through the arts and helping educate people on the positive impacts it has driven the concept along into reality.

Using St. Paul's Church, created by Checkwitch Porion Architects, this historic building with a modern addition provides unique gothic revival architecture and a variety of spaces perfectly suited for this arts center.

As my major project progresses along this term, I am excited to continue to explore what this space has to offer, and how my conceptual design is going to translate into reality!
